Holders Liverpool have cruised into the fourth round of the EFL Cup after a 5-1 win over West Ham this morning.

They’re joined by Arsenal, who also recorded a 5-1 victory over Bolton.

The Reds will next face Brighton in the fourth round…Arsenal are up against Preston…Man United will play Leicester…Chelsea take on either Wimbledon or Newcastle…while Man City will face Tottenham in the standout tie of the round.

In other results …Man United have kicked off their EUROPA League campaign with a disappointing 1-all draw with FC Twente.

Barcelona maintained their perfect start in La Liga…with a 1-0 win over Getafe…to open up a four point-lead at the top of the standings.

While Malaysia’s Terengganu FC are still without a win after two games in the ASEAN Club Championships…following their 2-2 draw with Vietnamese side Dong A Thanh Hoa.

Former Man United, Real Madrid and France defender Raphael Varane has announced his retirement from football at the age of just 31.

The World Cup and Champions League winner has struggled for fitness in recent years and recently suffered a serious knee injury with his new club Como.

Carlos Alcaraz has secured his place in the season-ending ATP tennis Finals…joining the top two ranked players in the world Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.
