Msia Turns Down Commonwealth Games

Mar 22, 2024

msia turns down commonwealth games

(YB Hanah Yeoh making the 'zero' sign, explaining our chances of hosting the Commonwealth Games)

Malaysia will NOT host the Commonwealth Games in 2026.

According to the Youth and Sports Ministry, the Cabinet felt that the £100m grant offered by the Commonwealth Games Federation is not expected to be enough to cover the cost of the Games.

It adds there is little time for the government to fully assess the economic impact of hosting such a sporting event.

Denmark will carefully manage Rasmus Hojlund's workload while on international duty.

The national team boss says it's to avoid aggravating his recent injury issues.

The Man United forward had recently recovered from a muscle problem that had sidelined him for several matches.

He made his return in United's FA Cup quarter-final win over Liverpool.

--

Harry Maguire says the whole England squad wants Gareth Southgate to stay on as the national team manager, due to his achievements.

Southgate is still undecided on whether to extend his contract until the next World Cup, and recent reports claimed that he's being targeted by Man United.

--

And Japan's upcoming World Cup qualifier against political rivals North Korea will be moved from Pyongyang to a neutral venue.

The Asian Foodball Confederation didn't give a reason for the change in venue, but confirmed it's still scheduled to take place this coming Tuesday.
