mbappe named france captain

Kylian Mbappe has been named as the new captain of the France national team, and will take the armband for their upcoming Euro qualifying campaign.

The PSG forward takes over from Hugo Lloris, who announced his international retirement recently.

France manager Didier Deschamps has also named Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann as vice-captain.

-

Sevilla have sacked manager Jorge Sampaoli after less than six months in charge, with the club sitting just two points above the La Liga relegation zone.

The sacking also comes about three weeks before the club are set to face Man United in the Europa League quarterfinals.

-

Separately, Crystal Palace have reappointed former England coach Roy Hodgson as their manager until the end of the season, to replace the sacked Patrick Vieira.

-

Man United’s Alejandro Garnacho and Barcelona’s Gavi have been named among the nine best young footballers in the world in the NXGN Awards.

-

Former Arsenal, Man City and Tottenham striker Emmanual Adebayor has announced his retirement from football at the age of 39.

-

And top-ranked men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik were among three Malaysian reps who made the second round of the Swiss Badminton Open...although Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah suffered an opening defeat.
