Scotland Qualifies For First World Cup In 28 Years

Nov 19, 2025

scotland qualifies for first world cup in 28 years

Scotland have booked a place at next year’s World Cup, after a dramatic 4-2 victory over Denmark in their final qualifier this morning.

The highly-entertaining match saw an overhead kick goal, two goals in stoppage time and a sending off…as the Scots secured their place at the tournament for the first time in 28 years.

In other selected results… Spain confirmed automatic qualification after a 2-2 draw with Turkiye.

Switzerland are also through, after a 1-1 draw with Kosovo.

Belgium booked their place after hammering Liechtenstein 7-0.

While Austria secured their World Cup spot thanks to their 1-1 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

-

Back home, Malaysia have edged closer to qualifying for the 2027 Asian Cup, after a 1-0 win over Nepal in KL last night.

The win leaves Harimau Malaya top of their group, needing only a draw against Vietnam in their final group game in March to advance.

-

Three Malaysian reps – including second-seeds Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin have marched into the second round of the Australian Badminton Open.

-

And, in tennis…Calos Alcaraz has pulled out of Spain’s team for the Davis Cup finals…due to a hamstring injury he picked up in his ATP Finals defeat to Jannik Sinner earlier this week.
