Pearly Tan and M.Thinaah have picked up their third title of the year… winning the women’s doubles crown at the Japan Badminton Masters.

The Malaysians posted a straight sets victory over their opponents from the host nation in yesterday’s final.

Pearly and Thinaah had earlier also created history by becoming the first Malaysian duo to reach seven BWF Tour finals in a single season.

Bruno Fernandes and Joao Neves both scored hattricks…as Portugal thumped Armenia 9-1 in their final World Cup qualifier, to secure a place at next year’s tournament.

They’ll be joined by Norway, who defeated Italy 4-1 to book an automatic place…in what will be their first World Cup in 28 years.

The Italians, meanwhile, will now have to go through the qualifying playoffs.

Elsewhere, England beat Albania 2-0 to wrap up their qualifying campaign with a perfect record.

While in the African qualifiers, Nigeria have missed out on a World Cup place for the second edition in a row…after a penalty shootout defeat to Congo.

PSG’s Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi…Liverpool’s Egyptian star Mo Salah…as well as Nigeria and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen have been named as the three finalists for the African Player of the Year Award.

Malaysian rider Muhammad Hakim Danish has finished an impressive 14th in the season-ending Moto3 race in Valencia …which is the second race in a row he’s picked up world championship points.

And, Jannik Sinner has won the ATP Finals with a straight sets victory over world number one Carlos Alcaraz.
