Zii Jia Pulls Out Of Australian Open

Nov 11, 2025

zii jia pulls out of australian openLee Zii Jia will not be defending his Australian Open title.

The badminton star has pulled out of the Super 500 tournament, which is scheduled for next week.

Zii Jia is nursing a back injury, which had already forced him to skip the recent European leg of the World Tour.

The world No. 63 was expected to return at the Japan Masters this week, but has since withdrawn.

National shuttlers Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei are almost ready to make a comeback.

The national mixed doubles head coach says they're nearly fully fit after Tang Jie sustained a shoulder injury at last month's French Open.

The pair are set for a return at the Australian Open next week, where they will resume their pursuit of a maiden BWF World Tour title this season.

---

And Mercedes F1 Team Principal Toto Wolff has praised Red Bull's Max Verstappen after his dominant drive at the Brazil Grand Prix which saw him storm from the pit lane to the podium.

Wolff adds that the performance underlined why the four-time World Champion remains a title threat that should not be underestimated despite recent setbacks.
