english fa wants tougher action on social media abuse

The English FA wants social media companies to do more to tackle the problem of online abuse being aimed at players and match officials.

According to SkySports, the FA says this includes using new technology that would make it easier to identify those who send harmful messages, so that action can be taken against them.

EPL referee Mike Dean recieved death threats after officiating a recent match.

Meanwhile, several players fell victim to racist abuse over the past few months.

Liverpool's board still have complete trust in boss Jurgen Klopp, despite their ongoing slump.

Reports say the board understands that their current problems are largely due to a major injury crisis, and are confident that Klopp can turn things around once the players become fit.

They are also optimistic of their chances next season, with the help of new signings.

The reigning league champions lost 1-nil to Fulham last weekend, for sixth consecutive home defeat, to lie in 8th place in the standings.
