Feb 07, 2024

liverpool make first move for alonso

(Allons-y Alonso!)

Liverpool have reportedly taken their first steps to appointing boss Jurgen Klopp's replacement.

According to French reports, the Anfield club have already made an initial approach to Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso.

The Spaniard is believed to be their number one target to take over from Klopp, who is stepping down at the end of the season.

Alonso previously played for Liverpool, helping them win the Champions League and FA Cup.

--

Enzo Fernandez reportedly wants to leave Chelsea, just a year after the Argentine World Cup winner joined the Blues.

Fernandez has only recorded five goals and six assists since he moved to Stamford Bridge.

Separately, AC Milan are rumoured to be considering bids for three of Chelsea's fringe players this summer, including Benoit Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah.

--

Barcelona could offload as many as five first-team players this summer, to help balance their books and ease their financial troubles.

According to reports, the players could include Andreas Christensen, and Marcos Alonso, as welll as Tottenham target Raphinha,.

--

And the Court of Arbitration for Sport is set to start hearing Romanian tennis star Simona Halep's appeal against her doping ban.

The 2-time Grand Slam winner has been provisionally suspended since October 2022, after testing positive for a banned drug during that year's US Open.
