Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei are mixed doubles world champions.

The Malaysians defeated China’s world number two pair of Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin in straight sets in final of the World Championships last night.

Tang Jie and Ee Wei also enter the history books as the country’s first ever mixed doubles pair to win the world title.

Meanwhile, Pearly Tan and M.Thinaah also did the country proud, by finishing as runners-up in the women’s doubles.

They put up a spirited display to go down fighting in three sets against their top-ranked opponents from China.

Despite the defeat, Pearly and Thinaah are still the first Malaysian women’s pair to win a medal at the World Championships.
