We have 32 million people in the country!

Malaysia now has a population of 32 million people.

The Statistics Department adds that men outnumber women, at a ratio of 107 to 100.

Meanwhile, Selangor is the most populous state, with some 6.5 million residents. 

EC advises voters in Tanjung Piai by-election to head to the polls early

The Election Commission has advised voters in Saturday's Tanjung Piai by-election to head to the polls early, to avoid any last minute complications. 

It also reminded voters to bring along their identity cards and avoid handing their ICs to anyone else besides polling clerks.

Polling time is from 8 am to 5.30 pm.

Nearly 150,000 eateries inspected on smoking ban

The Health Ministry has inspected nearly 150,000 eateries from January up till November this year,  to make sure that they fully comply with the smoking ban.

It has also issued more than 31,000 warning notices.

Full enforcement of the ban will begin on January 1st, and those caught lighting up will be fined RM10,000 or jailed up to 2 years.
