Sabah CM moots tougher penalties for elephant killers
Oct 21, 2019
The Sabah chief minister wants tougher penalties for those who kill endangered elephants.
This is after two Borneo pygmy elephants were shot and killed in the state in recent weeks.
In the first incident, 6 people were remanded over the deadly shooting of an elephant in Tawau.
While several days ago, another one was found dead at an oil palm plantation in Beluran.
According to the WWF, there are less than 1,500 Borneo Pygmy elephants left in the wild, most of them in Sabah.

Expect to see more rain and thunderstorms throughout the country this week, during the inter-monsoon period.
The Met Dept says this could cause flash floods in areas with poor drainage.
Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon season is expected to start by next week, and this could lead to major flooding.
