Blacklisted PTPTN borrowers can get housing loan exemptions

The govt has withdrawn the constitutional amendment bill to lower the voting age to 18. 

PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says it's to revise the bill, to include opposition demands to include automatic voter registration, and eligibility for 18-year-olds to contest in General Elections.

With opposition support, the bill will get the two-thirds majority needed to amend the constitution.. 

The revised bill is expected to be tabled tomorrow.

PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has thanked everone who wished him on his 94th birthday today. 

Among his well-wishers were members of his Cabinet, as well as former PM Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the Prime Minister of Singapore. 

Meanwhile, Tun says his birthday wish is to finish his job and make the country stable again.

PTPTN, the govt says blacklisted borrowers will soon be allowed to take loans to buy their first homes. 

The Housing and Local Govt Ministry says it has won approval from the Education Ministry and PTPTN, to exempt housing loans from being listed in C-CRIS, which Bank Negara's database of borrowers credit info. 

It stressed that the exemption is ONLY for buying homes.. and blacklisted PTPTN borrowers still can't buy things like cars.
