Bill to regulate vape, e-cigs to be tabled by year end

A new Bill to regulate electronic cigarettes, vape and sisha is expected to be tabled in Parliament at the end of this year or in next year's session.
The Health Minister is heading a taskforce on the matter, and will consult stakeholders to formulate the bill.
He says vape liquid contains a high percentage of nictotine and is addictive, adding that many vape users end up smoking cigarettes.

The government is conducting a study on whether to allow new energy suppliers to come into the market.
The Energy Minister told Parliament that this is to liberalise the electricity retail sector to promote more competitive tariffs.
The result of the study will be made known soon.

The Education Ministry says there is no difference between STPM and matriculation, when it comes to entry into pulic unis.
It says students are chosen based on meritocracy.
For the 2018/2019 intake into public unis, STPM graduates make up 54.6 percent while matriculation students make up 45.4 percent.
