Semenyih has its candidates

The nomination process for the Semenyih by-election has ended.

Pakatan is fielding Bersatu's Muhammad Aiman ​​Zainali, the son-in-law of incumbent, Bakhtiar Mohd Nor, who died of a heart attack last month. 

UMNO man and local leader Zakaria Hanafi will be running for Barisan Nasional.

25-year-old local activist Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul is representing PSM, while Malaysian Community Policing Association President, Kuan Chee Heng, also known as ‘Uncle Kentang’ will be running as an independent.

Malaysians detained in Cambodia fly home tomorrow

The 47 Malaysians released from detention in Cambodia will fly home by Sunday at the earliest. 

The group spent the past two months in jail for being involved in an online gambling syndicate.

They all claimed they were tricked into entering Cambodia by social media job ads promising lucrative jobs.

Govt warns begpackers

The government has warned tourists not to take advantage of Malaysians' generosity, by begging for money to fund their holiday.

So-called "beg-packers" have always been a controversial subject. 

The latest case saw a Russian couple tossing their 4-month-old baby in a street performance in KL. 

However, the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry said it cannot put a blanket ban on beg-packing.
