PH edges closer to two-thirds majority
Feb 13, 2019
The Pakatan Harapan government is edging closer to a two-thirds majority.
It comes after six independent MPs -who won their seats as BN candidates in GE14 - jumped ship to BERSATU, which now has 22 MPs.

This means that Pakatan Harapan and Parti Warisan Sabah now have 134 lawmakers - just 14 shy of two-thirds majority in Parliament.
The Prime Minister has always maintained that a supermajority is important to the PH government in order to amend the Federal Constitution and to fulfil the key reforms promised by them.
If this is achieved, then things like imposing a term limit on the Prime Minister or even making the MACC accountable to the Parliament could be made possible.
