Balik Kampung Exodus Begins

Jan 31, 2019

It's Balik Kampung Time...

The Chinese New Year balik kampung exodus starts tomorrow, and motorists have been urged not to travel if they don't have to.

Bukit Aman is hoping Malaysians will be considerate and stay home if they can, to give others a chance to get home sooner.

The cops also reminded drivers to keep their cool on the roads, especially since the police are on the watch for traffic offenders and are ready to hand out RM300 fines.

The Cabinet has issued a gag order while negotiations on the ECRL are ongoing.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said only the Prime Minister will be allowed to make a statement on the RM81 billion project.

This follows several conflicting statements from ministers about the status of the ECRL.

Those celebrating Chinese New Year in Bangkok have been asked not to burn incense or light fireworks.

This, as some 400 schools in Bangkok have been forced to close for the week because of smog.

The Thai capital is experiencing one of its worst ever air pollution levels.

The government has tried cloud seeding, reducing traffic and even hosing down streets to solve the problem, with little success.
