Police wrap up Penang Bridge crash probe
Jan 29, 2019
Penang police have completed investigations in the Penang Bridge accident, where a car crashed into the sea 2 weeks ago.
They have submitted the investigation papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutors office...
However, they are still waiting for drug and alcohol test results on the surviving driver involved in the accident - he was earlier found to be high on drugs during the crash.
Authorities are also testing the blood of the dead college student for drugs and alcohol, as per SOP.
The result may not be made public out of respect for the grieving family.
Meanwhile, the federal govt will review proposals to install guardrails at the Penang Bridge and Penang 2nd Bridge, to prevent a recurrence of the recent tragedy.
The Works Ministry will be in charge of the review, with an eye on the financial aspect.
