VIPs involved in illegal wildlife trade

A number of VIPs are involved in Malaysia's illegal wildlife and exotic animal trade.
The IGP says based on police investigations, they are directly involved in over 10 crime syndicates found to be operating here.
He adds, police are looking to increase the maximum penalty for convicted poachers.
It's proposing to TRIPLE the maximum jail term to 15 years, and to double the maximum fine to 1 million ringgit, on top of mandatory whipping.

The new National Automotive Policy may be presented to the cabinet next week for approval.
International Trade and Industry Ministry says once it gets the green light, it's expected to be launched by year-end.
Earleir, reports said that the new policy will be implemented in three stages until 2030.
It will include efforts to turn Malaysia into a manufacturer of hybrid and energy-efficient vehicles.

A new study in the US suggests you should start eating avocados, if you want to keep your bad cholesterol levels in check.
The study, by Penn State university says eating one avocado a day is enough to reduce LDL levels in adults who are overweight or obese.
This, as the Statistics Dept said heart disease is still Malaysia's number one killer, being the cause of over 18 thousands deaths last year.
This is 35 percent higher, than in 2017.
