Home Ministry to review SOPs on citizenship applications

The Home Ministry will review its SOP on applications for citizenship, to make the process more efficient.
It says the new SOP will have clearer guidelines, including on the on the registration of wives and children of citizens.
The Ministry adds that security screenings will be implemented to ensure that applications are all genuine.
It also says that the citizenship application process will be shortened from 3 years to 1.
Police rule out sabotage in Sg Selangor pollution
Police have ruled out elements of sabotage in the diesel spillage at Sungai Selangor that caused the recent water cuts in the Klang Valley.
The IGP says ongoing investigations found that the incident could have been caused by negligence on the part of the company employed to clean up the river.
Earlier, two of the company's employees were arrested for questioning.
Police have since released one employee on bail, while the other is still under remand to assist investigation.
30 cops arrested for drug abuse this year

About 30 policemen have been arrested in connection with drug-related offences so far this year.
The IGP says this is a serious matter as his own personnel were involved in drug abuse when the police are going all out against the drug menace.
As such, Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador says the police are targeting drug hotspots and drug dens nationwide in an ongoing operation.
