Govt's Federal Constitution amendment on Sabah and Sarawak turned down

Apr 10, 2019

The government has failed to restore equal partner status for Sabah and Sarawak.

A Bill in Parliament to amend the Constitution yesterday failed, after the Opposition refused to vote.

The ruling coalition only managed to scrap together 138 votes - 10 short of a 2-thirds majority.

The Opposition leader had earlier warned they would reject the bill, if it only touches on restoring the status of Sabah and Sarawak, and not on the general needs of the people.

Tun M identifies potential replacements for Osman Sapian

Who will be the next Johor Menteri Besar?

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said whomever it is, must be from BERSATU

Tun M said there are three to four possible candidates, but it's unlikely Datuk Osman Sapian's replacements will be appointed before the weekend.

This, as the Sultan of Johor has to be presented with the list of candidates, and he's overseas at the moment, due to return on Friday.

Tabung Haji depositors urged not to withdraw from accounts

The Opposition Leader has urged Tabung Haji depositors to leave their accounts alone.

There have been rumours of people withdrawing money from their accounts following the fund's announcement of a 1.25 percent dividend - the lowest in its history.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Tabung Haji's losses have been exaggerated, and also urged the Public Accounts Committee to investigate the claims of large losses.
