Pasir Gudang schools evacuated due to gas leak to reopen tomorrow

The two schools in Pasir Gudang, Johor that were forced to close this morning due to toxic fumes, could reopen by as early as tomorrow.

Wan Shukor Fadzil, from the State Fire and Rescue Department says it will happen once it gets the all-clear from Bomba and the Department of Environment.

Bomba adds, it's still trying to confirm the cause of the fumes, which came from a nearby river.

According to Berita Harian, witnesses saw a tanker dumping waste into the river, some time before this morning's incident.

Some 1,400 people had to be evacuated from the schools, and some 30 people had to be treated for breathing difficulties, including five who had to be warded.
