Feb 08, 2019

Malaysians Detained In Cambodia

Wisma Putra has confirmed that 47 Malaysians have been detained in Cambodia since December last year, on suspicion of being involved in illegal online gambling activities.

However, a visit by Malaysian embassy officials found that most of the detainees had been offered high-paying jobs in Cambodia, suggesting they may have been duped by a syndicate.

The government has since sent a diplomatic note, calling for the Malaysian's release.

The embassy there also says it is monitoring the case closely.

Four To Be Questioned Over Alleged Payments

Four important witnesses are expected to have their statements recorded in connection with allegations that PAS had received 90 million ringgit of suspected 1 MDB funds.

According to Berita Harian, among those to be questioned is PAS central committee member Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.

It is understood that Nik Abduh's statement is important because there is an audio recording, allegedly of him mentioning about receiving money from the state fund.

Earlier, Nik Abduh said he was ready to fully co-operate with the MACC over the case.

More Fake News Doing The Rounds

The Facebook posting claiming that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has been hospitalised is fake!

The DPM's office has clarified that image in the post is actually an old picture.

Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah has also advised individuals to be more responsible when posting or sharing content on social media.
