Tabung Harapan's final count
Feb 07, 2019
Malaysians donated a total of 202 million ringgit to Tabung Harapan.
This is the final count for the fund, which stopped collecting contributions on January 14th
Tabung Harapan was launched in May last year, to reduce the country's trillion-ringgit federal debt.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng says an accounts committee will be set up, led by the Treasury's sec-gen, to determine how the money will be used.
This will ensure that the funds are managed transparently and efficiently, in accordance with the procedures in the Trust Deed.
And if you made a donation after the January 14th deadline, don't worry, as the money will be returned in due time.
Lim also thanked all Malaysians who contibuted to the fund, saying "Your passion and love for the country gives this government the impetus to work harder to solve this financial crisis that we inherited".
