Selangor police will NOT be beefing up security in the state during Thaipusam despite the recent violence over the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple issue.

The Star quotes the state police chief says the situation is under control in the area around the temple as well as the state as a whole.

However, police will continue to monitor the situation, and that they are ready for any eventualities.

Separately, PDRM says close to 400 transaction authorisation code number abuse cases were recorded nationwide in 2018.

It was an increase from the 202 recorded in 2017 involving 11.6 million ringgit.

In a separate development, a senior police officer with the rank of ASP in Ipoh is being investigated for alleged criminal intimidation.

This, after he threatened a couple on the roadside earlier in the week.

In the incident, the officer was alleged to have nearly knocked down the couple, a doctor and his lawyer wife, who were out jogging.

And, Singapore has decided that the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter would be the most suitable replacement for their current crop of F-16s.

The F-16s have been in service in the Singapore Air Force since 1998 and will be taken off active duty after 2030, even after their mid-life upgrades.
