RAAGA, Malaysia’s No.1 Tamil radio station under Astro Radio, has launched a brand-new segment called Gen Z Zone, aimed at connecting directly with the younger generation. To mark the debut of this fresh and youth-driven platform, RAAGA is proud to feature the powerful new independent single PEMES, produced and written by local filmmaker and composer Shameshan Mani Maran.

Gen Z Zone is designed as a creative space for young Malaysians to explore music, culture, identity and ideas through a format that speaks their language. The segment will air every Saturday from 10 PM to 11 PM, and will also live digitally through RAAGA’s website and social media platforms. It invites youth participation through playlists, story submissions, event coverage and creative showcases.

Launching the segment with PEMES sets a bold tone. The track is an energetic blend of traditional Tamil folk and modern hip hop, reflecting the layered identity of today’s generation. Shameshan Mani Maran brings together a dynamic lineup of voices for this project, including Harsha Vardhan, Chinna Ponnu — the legendary folk singer from Tamil Nadu — and rising Malaysian rapper Yunohoo. Together, they create a sound that is unapologetically local, loud, and rooted in today’s realities.

PEMES explores themes of digital fame, social pressure and the performance of identity online — issues deeply familiar to Gen Z. With a music video that’s both satirical and visually striking, the release speaks to a generation that is hyper-aware, creatively expressive and unafraid to challenge the norm.
