Vijay Sethupathi And Seenu Ramasamy To Be Granted Honorary Doctorates

The American Embassy in Sri Lanka and the American National Business University, will be granting an honorary degree to our Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi. 


Director Seenu Ramasamy, a Kollywood publicist, who first cast the actor in the lead role in the 2010 film Thenmerku Paruvakkatru, will also be awarded a Ph.D. alongside the actor. The two stars are being honored with the titles in recognition of their latest film Maamanithan.


A letter released by the publicist and sent to Seenu Ramasamy read, "We are pleased to notify you that we have reviewed your accomplishments and contributions from your submitted résumé. Your efforts are excellent and admirable. Our Academic Advisory Board is happy to award the title of "DOCTOR OF ARTS (Honoris Causa) to you after carefully considering your application. As a result, you are graciously invited to collect your Honorary Doctorate title during our Graduation event on July 23, 2022, at The Residency Towers in Chennai, India."


So far, Seenu Ramasamy and Vijay Sethupathi have collaborated on four films which are Thenmerku Paruvakkatru, Idam Porul Yaeval, Dharmadurai, and of course Maamanithan that hit the silver screens on June 24. The film was produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja under his YSR Productions banner. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathrie, K. P. A. C. Lalitha, Guru Somasundaram and Shaji Chen.
